This series of engines are usually to be found on large walk behind rotary lawnmowers and compact ride-on mowers
They are Overhead Valve (OHV) with the spark plug located fairly deep to the side of the rocker cover
The exhaust is mounted on the right when veiwed from behind the engine with the carburettor and air filter on the left
The plastic fuel tank wraps around the rear left hand corner of the engine with the fuel cap just behind the air filter cover
Above the carburettor is a plastic cannister which holds the pear shaped air filter cartridge
The oil dipstick is located in the rear right hand corner (viewed from behind the engine)
The Model, Type and Code numbers are stamped into the engine's pressed steel rocker cover or on a flat steel plate over the exhaust. The Model number will begin either 11,12 or 14.
Notice of possible service disruption
Between the last week of June and the first two weeks of July, Briggs and Stratton will be implementing a global update of all systems. During this period, there will be no movements of parts or engines from their distribution centres. This will impact on our service to customers. In readiness for this, we are endeavouring to increase our stocks in line with anticipated sales over this period however, it is inevitable that some items will become out of stock due to unexpected sales trends. Similarly, many less popular parts ordered through the special orders system which we do not hold here, will experience a fairly substantial delay. We are already noticing some disruption in parts movement as Briggs prepare for this monumental change. We shall endeavour to keep customers informed where we become aware of any orders or enquiries for parts affected. Some anticipated availability times will no doubt be somewhat disappointing but we will try to be realistic rather than promising something that is unlikely or unachievable.
All being well the disruption will be kept to a minimum and our increased stock holdings will largely allow the majority of regular orders to be processed as normal. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause
